Definition of someone who won’t shut up

A person who won’t shut up is someone who talks continuously and excessively without giving others a chance to partake in the conversation. This type of behaviour is really disrespectful and frustrating towards other people because it keeps them from expressing their opinions.

Of course, when someone just goes careening with words, they won’t stop to notice their surroundings. Thus, conversations with them are never balanced you will do the listening and they will do the talking.

How to deal with someone who won’t shut up

How can you talk someone out of talking way too much when you can’t get into the conversation?

It’s hard, but with these techniques, you might be able to get an opening.

1.      Be assertive with people who won’t stop talking

When dealing with a loquacious individual, be direct and honest with your intentions. By expressing what you really want to say, you can reduce misunderstanding and possible conflict.

2.      Set boundaries

Boundaries are really helpful in setting your limits which you will certainly need around a talkative person.

You can share these boundaries with them and point out the things that you’re “okay” and “not okay” with. This time it’s their endless talk, so you make sure you get the point across.

3.      Redirect the conversation

If you want to shut a person up, you can interject and shift the conversation to newer subjects. In this way, you can sway their focus. You can also finally participate and balance the conversation.

4.      Be patient

As usual, they’ll go on a roll talking about the same things, blah, blah, blah.

For that, you’re going to need ample patience. You’re going to have your time though, but in the meantime, stay in your place and listen.

5.      Seek support

Like all things that exude bad energy, dealing with a person who won’t shut up drains your mind and body.

During these times, it is paramount you lean on family and friends for support. They’ll keep you cheerful, at the same time motivated, to keep going.

All that endless chatter will make a conversation impossible. And that’s a social fault to begin with.

A good conversation will only happen if people talk and listen at the same time. Now, a person who talks too much won’t realize this. You’re going to have to communicate it with them.

However, if they’re still at it, you can always cut the interactions short and put yourself first.

  2. these are pretty cool. there’s one specifically i like (it might not be up there but i think it was): i think what you have to say can wait until you’re smarter.
and the ones ive come up with: 1.if you had any less brain cells, you would be sitting in a field, eating grass and moo-ing; so dont waste them trying to prove a point nobody wants to hear.
    2. dont waste the little you have by using it to force useless words around the room– (extend it), nobody cares that you dont like anybody (or (that person)) so it would be better if you held your ideas to yourself and and save them for a time they might actually save YOUR life.
